Xueping works at the intersection of political economy and innovation, with a special focus on China. She is particularly interested in how political incentives and constraints drive policy creation, and implementation, and how the interplay between government, market, and academia shapes innovation. She uses machine learning and big data methods to exploit novel data, such as politicians’ CV profiles, policy documents, publication records of scientists, news coverage, and social media data to answer these questions. Xueping received her BA of Economics from Sun-Yat-Sen University in Guangzhou, MA of Economics from Peking University in Beijing, and PhD in economics in 2022 from the Institute for International Economic Studies (IIES) at Stockholm University.
