Biography
Miriam Shatto is a Predoctoral Research Scholar at Stanford's Institute for Research in the Social Sciences (IRiSS) and the Stanford Center on China’s Economy and Institutions (SCCEI). She is part of the research team for the Economics for Sustainability and Energy Transition (eSET) lab based at the Doerr School of Sustainability and SCCEI, where she works with Professor Shanjun Li and his postdoctoral fellows. Miriam received her B.A. in Mathematical Economic Analysis and Social Policy Analysis from Rice University in 2026. Her current work supports a review of China's energy transition over the past two decades. She also assists on projects examining policy and market forces in China's electric vehicle industry, including how policy tools might encourage automakers to source greener steel. Her own interests lie in resource, agricultural, and environmental economics.
