Biography

Hongbo Li is a Visiting Researcher at the Stanford Center on China’s Economy and Institutions (2026–27). He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Economics at the National School of Development, Peking University, where he also received his B.A. in Economics with Honors in 2023. His research interests lie in labor economics and the economics of technological change, with a particular focus on how advances in artificial intelligence and digital technologies reshape labor demand, worker productivity, job matching, and employment arrangements. He is also broadly interested in the gig economy and new forms of employment, including platform work and the growing use of flexible and contingent labor in China.
