Promoting Mental Health for University Students in China through Mindfulness
Project Overview
Mental health issues among university students in China have risen sharply over the past decade. Yet stigma, limited resources, and a lack of evidence-based approaches remain major barriers to care. There is growing recognition of the potential of Mindfulness-Based Programs (MBPs) to improve mental health, but high-quality evidence from the Chinese university context is still lacking.
REAP is developing and evaluating a culturally adapted mindfulness-based program tailored to the needs of Chinese college students. The program is designed to reduce anxiety and depression, build resilience, and support students’ ability to manage academic and life stress. To improve accessibility and reach, the intervention is being tested in both online and in-person formats.
